iOS 10 New Features: Siri's Upgrade, Third-Party App Functionality and More - When is the Release Date?
Apple Reveals its Newest iOS at WWDC
Apple revealed at the recent WWDC that it will be rolling out the iOS 10 for their products when the expected new iPhone or presumably "iPhone 7" is released to the markets this September. The tech company said that the newest update to their product's operating system will allow interactions that were previously unavailable to Apple users such as dealing with third-party apps.
Siri Getting Massive Upgrades
Since her introduction, Siri has been a popular addition to any Apple product. However, Siri's ability to understand slang and non-formal sentences has always been a drawback. Apple details that Siri's upgrade in understanding current language barriers is due to an Intense API. The new upgrade is available in other languages as well.
Apart from this new feature, one of the biggest upgrades of Siri is its ability to work with many common third party apps. Apps like WeChat, WhatsApp and Viber are now all compatible with Siri, making the program's hand-free feature a lot more convenient while driving.
Apple also stated that Siri will work with popular ride-calling services such as Uber and Lyft. But that's not all, Siri can also help share photos will frequently used apps such as Shuttefly, Pinterest and Instagram.
Notifications and Lock Screen
The new iOS 10 will have a considerable change in the way Apple products respond to notifications via its new Rise to Wake feature. The device will now light up and show several interactive notifications from the lock screen once it's picked up. Apple users will no longer have to input their Touch ID fingerprint on the sensor to access the home screen.
From the lock screen, users can delete notifications as well as interact with third-party apps like UBER.
Delete Pre-installed Apps
For years, Apple users have been wanting the ability to delete certain pre-installed applications but have been unable to do so due to restrictions in the operating system. While this information has not been made public yet, it has been confirmed that with iOS 10, users can delete pre-installed applications that they deem unuseful.
Most of the time, these apps do not take up a lot of space in the first place, but it's the little things that make iOS 10 all the much better.
