iOS 7 Release Date 2013: iPhone, iPad Software Update Scheduled for This Week: 'Gold Master' Beta on the Way

The iOS 7 release date for 2013 is scheduled for early this week, according to new reports. The updated software for iPhones, iPads and iPods has already had several beta versions tested by thousands of developers and Apple users, and it seems later on today they will have the chance for the final version.

The iOS 7 release date was long slated to be this fall, and it seems to be today as PhonesReview.co.uk pointed out that the latest new beta- there have been six iterations so far of the testing software- was unavailable.

"After checking to see if iOS 7 beta 7 is live or any other update I got this message while checking OTA. It basically states that an error occurred while checking for a software update, so you are unable to check for an update," a U.K. developer told the publication. Although a software update error message when using iOS 7 beta 6, mobile devices running iOS 6 confirm that no updates are available.

"I logged into the developer portal just fine and also tried to get an update on an iPhone 4S running iOS 7 beta 6, but the same problem and error message appeared," the developer confirmed. Past updates have been released at 10 a.m. Pacific time.

Although previous reports from MacRumors stated that the iOS 7 update would be released alongside the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 Sept. 10, the various betas and testing mean that a Gold Master version could be ready- that's a beta final candidate that could be released as the actual version of iOS 7.

With the release date for iOS 7 soon approaching, many are waiting to take advantage of the brand new layout and improvements of the system. The feel of the icons and background has been completely redesigned, offering more color, and the system has integrated many tweaks to improve user interfaces.

iOS 7 will feature the ability for users to make their own radio stations, multitask in a far more effective way using "cards" as different screens, new camera filters, a new settings window that swipes up from the bottom of the screen, AirDrop Instant Sharing, and other changes.
