iOS 8 Update: iPhone 4 and 5 Problems Reported By Users With New Apple iOS 8
With the release of the new Apple OS last Sept. 17, Apple device users immediately scrambled to get their hands on the iOS 8 to update their devices. However, upon installation of the new software, users were immediately plagued with a host of problems brought about by the new OS.
One of the problems that iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s users have complained about is that their battery drained faster upon installation of the iOS 8. Apple resolved this by including a new battery power breakdown feature on the OS, which will pinpoint which apps are taking up most of the device's battery life.
Owners of older Apple devices also dropped their current OS to install the iOS 8 without knowing if their device will support the new software. While iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users will automatically have the software installed, other Apple gadgets that can support the iOS 8 are: iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad 2, third and fourth generation iPad, iPad Air, 5th generation iPad Touch, iPad Mini, and iPad Mini with Retina display.
Another cause of concern is the amount of space needed by the OS for it to be installed on an Apple phone or tablet. The new operating system takes up only 1 GB of storage, however, it needs at least 4.6 GB of storage to download it. This is a big problem for those who store a lot of pictures or videos on their phones or tablets, or for those who own devices with only 8 GB storage.
These issues, apart from other problems, have convinced Apple users to wait before installing the iOS 8 until these problems have been resolved. There have been reports that downgrading back to iOS 7 can be difficult once the iOS 8 has been installed, so it is advisable to wait prior to downloading the software to give the Cupertino-based company some time to iron out the kinks on iOS 8.
