iPad Air 2 vs iPad Air Review: Comparison of Features, Specs, Price

Apple has recently launched the iPad Air 2, the follow-up to one of the company's best tablets. In a side by side comparison, we figure out what makes one different from the other, and what features were added to the latest generation model. Is the upgrade worth it? Here's what we found out:

Design:
The iPad Air 2 looks very similar to its predecessor. Not many people can tell that the Air 2 is thinner at 6.1mm thick, but other than that there's not much difference between the two in size. On the new model, the Touch ID sensor acts as a home button, and it's also an important part of Apple Pay, so that iOS8 users can authorize payments by using their fingerprints.

As for screen size, the two tablets share the same dimensions, as both of them have the 9.7 inch screen. They also have the same resolution which is 2048 x 1536 pixels.

So far, the only discernible difference between the original model and the new generation tab wherein looks is concerned is that the Air 2 is available in champagne gold.

Features:
Both tablets have two cameras. The iPad Air has a main iSight camera at 5MP, and a front-facing camera with 1.2 MP. The Air 2 has a slight edge this time as it is outfitted with an 8PM main iSight camera and 1.5MP front camera. Both tablets have 10 hours of battery life on a full charge.

The iPad Air has an internal storage of 16GB, while the Air 2 offers the same, plus 64GB and 128GB options.

Price:
The iPad Air 2 starts at $509 for the 16GB model, $582 for the 64GB, and $718 for the 128GB option, while 16GB iPad Air can be had from Amazon at $388.75.
