Ipad Air 3 Release Date Will Be March 18, According to a New Report
A new report has placed Apple's iPad Air 3 release date on March 18. The device will launch alongside the rumored 4-inch iPhone 5se.
Apple-centric site 9to5Mac has recently reported that the company will start selling its rumored upcoming iPad Air 3 and the iPhone 5se on Friday, March 18. This follows just a few days after the devices would have been introduced in a highly speculated event, which the publication says will be held on Tuesday, March 15. This means Apple will sell the new devices on the same week as they were unveiled. As a result, it is highly likely that there will be no pre-orders this time around, although the site's sources warned Apple's plans could still change.
Similar to the introduction of new iPhones to the market, Apple's iPad line also usually releases a week or two after the new devices have been unveiled. This latest bit of information then could mark a change in the company's release strategy. If true, this could also mean a change in the company's upgrade cycle.
The iPad Air 3 will supposedly be powered by an A9 processor and feature a 10-inch display, enhanced speakers, and a Smart Connector. Its photographic functions will also get enhancements through an upgraded camera system and a rear flash. The device could also include updated Smart Keyboards and offer Apple Pencil support. Apple is said to be aiming at "rejuvenating" its iPad sales with the release of its latest iteration of the iPad line.
Similar to the iPad Air 3, the iPhone 5se will also reportedly be powered by an A9 chip and have improved cameras. The upcoming phone is also expected to have NFC support for Apple Pay, as well as provide its users with the ability to take live photos. The iPhone 5se is rumored to start selling at $450.
In addition to the iPad Air 3 and iPhone 5se, Apple is also expected to release new bands for its Apple Watch. These new bands could come in new colors or include a Space Black Milanese Loop and NATO-style nylon bands.
