iPad Mini 5 Release Date, Specs Rumors, Latest News: New iPad Mini to Launch This March?
More than a year has passed since Apple launched the iPad mini 4, and many Apple users and tech enthusiasts think the unveiling of the device's updated version is long overdue.
Though rumors have begun surfacing about the probable launch of the iPad mini 5 in the near future, details about it remain scarce. But now, recent reports speculate that the next-gen tablet could be launched this March.
Apple reportedly has plans to release three new iPad models this year: an affordable 9.7-inch iPad, a revamped 12.0-inch iPad Pro, and a new medium-sized 10.5-inch iPad model. However, rumors suggest that the 7.9-inch iPad mini 5 could also be released in 2017.
According to a report by Alphr, should Apple release an iPad mini this year, it will likely be scheduled at the same time as the arrival of other iPad updates in previous years. Considering that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro was launched in March last year, the rumor mill suggests that March 2017 will be when at least one of the new iPad models will be released.
The rumored iPad mini 5 is speculated to arrive with new features such as Apple's 3D Touch technology, IP68 protection, and an updated Apple Pencil. The device will reportedly run on the new version of Apple's iPad and iPhone operating system, the iOS 10, and will be powered by the A9 and M9 motion co-processor. There are also those who expect Apple to release the tablet in three different storage sizes, with the 32 GB version as the base model.
The new iPad mini 5 is also rumored to be protected by a 7000-series aluminium chassis, making the device thinner but also more durable. Given that the iPhone 7 ditched the standard 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, the new iPad mini is also expected to abandon the headphone port in favor of the company's new lightning port.
Should rumors be proven true, Apple fans and tech enthusiasts can expect the iPad mini 5 to be launched sometime this month.
