iPad Pro 2 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Alleged Apple March Event to Unveil New Additions to iPad Pro Lineup?
The highly anticipated iPad Pro 2 may be coming sooner than expected. Rumors about a March unveiling for the newest addition to Apple's flagship tablet line continue to spread.
According to a report on the renowned Japanese tech news site, Mac Otakara (via MacRumors), Apple will be hosting a March event geared at introducing a new iPad Pro lineup, along with other products that may include storage and design upgrades on the current iPhone models and brand new Apple watch bands.
There are claims that new iPad Pro models will be introduced in 7.9-inch, 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch sizes, with the 10.5-inch variant shipping in May. The rest are expected to hit the stores as early as March.
If this report turns out to be true, this would mean that Apple may be planning to replace the iPad Mini 4 with the 7.9-inch iPad Pro model, while providing some significant updates on the existing 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch models. The Cupertino-based tech company could also be planning to introduce the brand new 10.5-inch model, which is rumored to sport an edge-to-edge display sans the Home button.
Rumor also has it that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro upgrade will usher in a 12-megapixel rear camera along with True Tone display that utilizes a set of advanced four-channel ambient light sensors. This could allow the image display to realistically capture the color and intensity of the surrounding environment.
As for its battery life, the upcoming iPad Pro 2 will allegedly have the capacity to last for 10 hours, thanks in part to its ability to automatically adjust its screen refresh rate based on how much movement there is on screen. According to Apple, the iPad Pro line is the only iOS device that can do this at present.
The iPad Pro 2 is also expected to be compatible with accessories like the Apple Pencil and the Apple Smart Key Keyboard.
