Apple Promoting iPad Pro 2 With New TV Ads
The iPad Pro 2 is one hotly anticipated piece of gear, and Apple looks to be working to get the momentum going for the slate device. The company just released four brand-new commercials for the iPad Pro. Could these be an early preparation by Apple, ahead of a rumored iPad Pro 2 launch?
In these TV spots, Apple takes a few lighthearted jabs at the PC to secure some mindshare for the iPad Pro series. Aside from the ads going into some of the spirit of the company's 2009 "Get a Mac" campaign, this could be one of the few times the Cupertino-based company has used social media in an ad campaign. As a company that's been largely indifferent to social media, Apple has been absent for the most part on Facebook and Twitter — the verified @apple Twitter account has zero tweets since its creation in 2011, and the same goes for the company's Facebook page.
This series of short, 16-second ads aim to market the iPad Pro as a replacement for the desktop or laptop computer. The first one, "Better than a computer," touts the tablet as being "faster than most laptops" and mentions the pad's Long Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity, the touchscreen and stylus as what makes the iPad Pro better than a computer. "No PC viruses" simply gets the point across that the iPad Pro is safe from PC viruses.
"Do More with Word" notes how essential apps like Microsoft Word is available in the app store, and "Don't hunt for Wi-Fi" mentions LTE again, this time to point out how users can "get internet pretty much anywhere."
The popular opinion is that the iPad Pro 2 could be launching in March 2017 alongside the new Apple Pencil 2, according to Mac World. March has been the usual schedule for Apple when holding the first of its annual events. Some sources, however, are convinced that the company will wait until the second half of the year until production is well under way.
