iPhone 5 Release Date: Apple Seeks to Capitalize on Popularity of New Device With 5 New Stores
The iPhone 5 release date has reportedly sparked the opening of five new Apple retail locations across the globe.
The first of the new store openings will take place on Thursday, just one day prior to the iPhone 5 release date on Friday Sept. 21 and will be in Valladolid, Spain in the Rio Shopping Center. The company has announced that in all five new Apple Stores will have their grand openings sometime this week in an effort to capitalize on the popularity and excitement of the next generation iPhone.
Apple will also open Sindelfingen just outside of Stuttgart, Germany on Sept. 21, the day of the smartphone's release.

The rest of the stores opening up this week include La Toison d'Or in Dijon, France, Valley Plaza, in Bakersfield, California and Il Leone in Lonato, Italy.
The last of these will be the Italy store, which will open on the day after the iPhone 5 launch.
This could be Apple's busiest week ever as the company has already received 2 million pre-orders for the iPhone after announcing it last Wednesday. Various carriers have already sold out of the device.
The new smartphone will feature a taller 4-inch display and thinner design at 7.6mm thick. The new screen will be 1136 x 640 pixels resolution with 326 pixels. It also has touch sensors built into it in order to keep the phone as thin as possible.
With the taller screen, applications have been expanded and Apple promises that nothing has been altered or stretched in the process. It also allows for five rows of icons to be displayed on the new iPhone's home screen.
The iPhone 5 features a 2-tone design with a metal backing. It is completely made from glass and aluminum. It is said to be 20 percent lighter than the 4S. Hardware has been greatly improved as well, as the device comes with an A6 chip that can perform at speeds twice as fast as the A5 found in the iPhone 4S. It is also 22 percent smaller than its predecessor.
