iPhone 7 News, Rumors and Release Date: Analyst Weighs In on Features; 2.4GHz Chipset and 12-Megapixel Sensors?
How Good Will the New iPhones Perform with the New A10 Chipset?
The big reveal is coming. On September 7, Apple will be unveiling a new lineup for its most anticipated products, the iPhone 7. With so much hype built up around these devices, tech bloggers, fans, and even analysts are already weighing in on what to expect from the new smartphones.
Performance
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts the internal specs of the iPhone 7 based on the rumors and feasible possibilities. For the performance, it is widely known that the iPhone 7 lineup will be packing the new A10 chipset.
Developed and manufactured by Apple itself, the A10 will most likely have its CPU clock set at 2.4GHz. This is predicted to be its raw power, but then a lower clock speed should be welcomed to prevent overheating, inefficient power management and consumption, and unmanageable performance.
For the RAM, the base model of iPhone 7 is said to remain the same, at 2GB. The iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro, on the other hand, may be packing 3GB in its might. On paper, these numbers are relatively low in comparison to the competition. However, users must also consider the fact that the A10 chipset and the iOS 10 are all designed for minimal memory consumption, allowing for a more efficient and fluid overall performance.
Dual Camera Setup
The bump in both processing power and RAM in the higher-end models are mostly likely implemented to support the dual lens camera setup. This new setup entails the usage of two different sensors with 12 megapixels each up its sleeve, geared to different optic technologies.
The first snapper would have relatively larger pixels on a 6-element lens with a wide-angle focal range. This shooter would also have Optical Image Stabilization. The second one will integrate a 5-element lens with a tighter focal range.
The dual-lens camera setup will be available only to the iPhone 7 Pro (if it will be available to the iPhone 7 Plus is still unconfirmed). The base model of iPhone 7 will come with a singular 12-megapixel camera. However, a 4-LED flash technology will come with the cameras on all models.
Storage, Headphone Jack, and Other Changes
As previously reported, the new iPhones will come in three storage options. The new standard storage offering would now be 32GB, with all models seemingly giving double the capacity of previous iterations. The 128GB and 256GB versions would then accompany the base model. Pricing would pretty much stay the same for all models as with previous iterations.
The headphone jack rumor has seemingly become all too real, as different reports seem to support it already. However, Lightning EarPods and a Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter will come bundled with the phones.
The Home Button would no longer be clickable. It will now be flush along the bottom bezel, with pressure sensitivity so pressing and tapping would be the new interaction method. The waterproof rating would also be at IPx7 certification, meaning that the device could be submerged in a meter of water up to half an hour.
