iPhone 7 News & Updates: Upcoming Model to Have 256GB Storage
With better phone camera and higher specs, Apple pushes bigger storage.
More storage is what the upcoming iPhone 7 will offer customers, with a research firm saying that it can pack up to 256GB of storage when it becomes available this year.
TrendForce revealed that the storage capacity of the premium iPhone 7 will match that of the iPad Pro. It explained that the bigger data bank of the new iPhone 7 is necessary as it will have high-resolution photos and videos taken by its main and secondary cameras.
The competition, in terms of storage, is also stiff when it comes to new smartphones released in the market. This is because key players are offering higher storage with an option of expanding it to accommodate more files, photos and videos. It is expected that Apple will also study their options and choose to expand their 128GB variant, the highest storage they have offered for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Earlier models of the iPhone are also available in 16GB, 64GB and 128 GB models. Macrumors added that it is still unclear if the 256GB storage will only be made available for the 5.5-inch model or also for the 4.7-inch variant.
Aside from this, TrendForce mentioned that the 5.5-inch variant of the new iPhone 7 will also have 3GB of memory. CNet highlighted that bigger storage means it would be easier for users to run various applications all at the same time. They will also be assured that their iPhones will run smoothly even when using complicated apps.
The tech giant is certainly placing all of its innovation and creativity for the iPhone 7 to boost sales and provide what their competitors are giving smartphone users at a lower price.
With bigger storage and higher specs, the phone would also require a larger battery. Macrumors said that Apple is responding to this need by offering a 3,1000 mAh battery for the iPhone 7 -- a 12.7 percent increase in battery life compared to earlier releases.
Expected to arrive in September, the iPhone 7 and its bigger brother the iPhone 7 Plus will reportedly sport the same design as the iPhone 6s series sans the 3.5mm headphone jack. Tech experts speculate that the display could still be the same as an OLED upgrade may happen next year.
However, Macrumors reveals that the iPhone 7 will be a powerful device. It may feature a waterproof design, faster LTE, better-performing Wi-Fi chips and improved antenna bands.
