iPhone 7 release date: Reports point to September 7 or 9
Apple is all set to releases its next smartphone, the iPhone 7, next month, although the exact date is still unconfirmed.
There are reports that say Apple could release its new device on either September 7 or September 9. There are also rumors that the preorder for the latest Apple device will begin on September 18, according to iDigital Times.
The regular version could be called the iPhone 6s or iPhone 7, while the larger version could be called the iPhone 6s Plus or iPhone 7 Plus, MNR Daily reports.
Should the rumors turn out to be true, the iPhone 7 could be available at Apple Stores in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, and other major markets by September 25. This is based on the observation that Apple releases new iPhones 10 days after the unveiling, the report says.
Last year, Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on September 9. Preorders began on September 12, and the phone hit the shelves on September 19.
Fans are expecting the regular iPhone 7 to have a 4.7-inch display that will now sport the new Force Touch feature. The Force Touch, which was first incorporated in the Apple Watch, enables the unit to sense the different levels of pressure applied on the phone's screen. The iPhone 7 Plus could come with a 5.5-inch display, the report details.
The iPhone 6s Plus may also run on a dual-core A9 chip, and may have 1 GB of DDR4 RAM, and an internal storage of either 16 GB, 32 GB, or 128 GB. It is rumored to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera — a noticeable jump from the 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras in previous iPhones.
In addition to the aforementioned specs, the next iPhone may come with a 1,810 mAh battery, Touch ID sensor, and Apple Pay mobile payment system. Reports say the iPhone 7 could have space gray, gold, silver, gold, and rose gold variants.
