iPhone 7 Release Date & Specs Rumors: To Remove Home Button and Use Intel Chipset?
Now that Apple's latest devices, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, have arrived, fans are looking into finding out more about the upcoming iPhone 7. Fortunately though, a lot of information about it is circulating on the Internet. The latest one in the rumor mill is about the company ditching the iconic physical home button.
According to Phone Arena, there's a possiblity that Apple is back to work at their drawing board again for the iPhone 7 because of some radical design changes that they allegedly will do and that includes the eradication of the home button as noted in a prediction by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.
Munster said that there's a 50-50 chance the device may no longer need the home button because of the "3D Touch" pressure-sensing system. If Apple will perfect it, the home button will be integrated right on the display. It actually sounds very promising as it would make the iPhone more compact and easier to handle.
Aside from the home button changes, the iPhone 7 is also reported to be switching from Qualcomm to Intel. In a report by Venture Capital Post, Ewan Spence of Forbes said that Intel has already formed a team composed of 1,000 staff to work on the integration of its 7360 LTE modem chip for the upcoming Apple mobile unit. He also stated that Qualcomm is aware of the competition and may be working hard to retain its spot.
It may turn out that both Intel and Qualcomm will be asked to create chipsets for Apple iPhone 7. But there's no confirmation yet regarding the big switch and whether or not Intel will be chosen by the company. Latin Post noted that if the company will push through with using Intel SOC, there's a possibility that the company will get a major boost as per their mobile market sales. After all, Intel is already the supplier of chips for Apple's Mac Desktop and laptop computers.
The highly anticipated iPhone 7 is speculated to arrive on September 2016.
