iPhone 8 and 8 Plus News: Sales Slower This Time Around
As one of the most highly anticipated device in the smartphone market, Apple's iPhone 8 and 8 Plus garnered a lot of attention since it was still in the development phase. The tech giant officially unveiled their flagship smartphones in their keynote event held last Sept. 12. Just a few days later, pre-orders went live for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, and recent reports indicate that some variants are already sold out.
Apple's iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were made to look like the previous model, which was released last year. They still sport the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays, respectively. The key difference lies at the rear end of the phone, which has been made with glass. Under the hood, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus also soundly beat the internals of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Along with the iPhone X, the smartphones are equipped with Apple's A11 chip, which powers the Face ID as well as the augmented reality technology.
Just as the pre-orders finally went live for the fans, it seems that some models of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are already sold out. T-Mobile's iPhone 8 Plus models are already out of the stock, but those who would like to avail of the model can still look at other carriers and the unlocked versions.
Although shipping will not begin until Sept. 22, the newest flagships are already ramping up sales. However, some analysts took note of the fact that both versions sold slower this time around.
The slower purchase of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus seems to have something to do with the third smartphone from Apple which is the iPhone X. It features a near bezel-less display and a notable difference from the other iPhone models released thus far.
Pre-orders for the iPhone X will begin on Oct. 27, and it is expected to being shipping on Nov. 3.
