iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus vs iPhone X Battery Life Review: Which Apple Smartphone Performs Best?
Apple users have three new iPhones to choose from once pre-order begin this September. While price might be a given factor in choosing which smartphone to buy, some consider battery life as an important consideration as well. So which unit offers the best bang for buck among the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X?
It is company policy not to reveal battery capacity ratings but the iPhone X's battery life is two hours longer than the current model in the market, the iPhone 7. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, on the other hand, have almost the same life as the iPhone 7 Plus.
During the launch of the new iPhones, however, Apple showed a chart comparing the new units. It highlighted on specific usage versus battery life.
Talk time for the iPhone 8 is estimated to last 14 hours following a full charge, while it's 21 hours for the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X.
Internet use for the iPhone 8 Plus lasts 13 hours, while it is 12 hours for the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. This also applies to video playback usage.
Audio playback for the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X can go for up to 60 hours, while it's only 40 hours for the iPhone 8.
Battery life for the iPhone X, however, could be stretched far longer if the user switches its OLED display to night mode or black wallpaper when the phone is not in use. This feature is reportedly not on the other iPhone models.
Meanwhile, Apple made its iPhone battery charging accessory more efficient with the launch of the AirPower wireless charging pad. Owners of iPhones could simply set their device on the mat which will charge up the phone via induction.
Pre-orders will open on Sept. 15 for the iPhone 8 ($699) and the iPhone 8 Plus ($799) and shipping will be by Sept. 22. Pre-orders for the iPhone X ($999) is on Oct. 27 and shipping is on Nov. 3.
Pre-order and price for the AirPower are still undetermined although Apple announced that stocks will be ready by 2018.
