iPhone 8 News: Reports of Devices Bursting Open Reveal Possible Battery Issues; Apple Says They Are Currently Investigating the Problem
As one of the most highly anticipated smartphones in the market, Apple's iPhone 8, and 8 Plus were facing a lot of expectations before it was unveiled in their keynote event. Now that it has been released to the public along with the problematic iOS 11, it seems that the iPhone 8 has one too many problems.
One of the major issues of the smartphone is indicated in the multiple reports that have been posted online about how the battery has bloated and that this might be an indication of battery failure.
According to Mac Rumors, there have so far been six reported incidents of the iPhone 8 bursting open probably because of battery failure. One user had to return his device a few days later after the display was dislocated because of battery swelling.
Another user was told the problem was the fact that he was using an unofficial cable and power adapter that may have caused the battery to swell. Although six cases might be a small number especially since millions are being shipped overseas, fans are reminded of the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which is known as the exploding smartphone.
Independent spoke to an Apple spokesperson, who told them that they are aware of the issues and that they are currently doing their best to investigate the source of the problem. They also believe that the battery swelling will not cause the gadget to explode the way that Note 7 did, and it is therefore not a safety concern. However, it remains to be seen if the issues are coincidental or if the problem is in the manufacturing of the iPhone 8.
There is no official word yet from Apple as far as the results of the investigation. Fans believe that it is still currently ongoing. However, they also hope that the six cases are isolated ones. Regardless, fans are expecting to have more details in the coming weeks.
