iPhone X News: How to Preorder
Apple has officially unveiled the long-awaited iPhone 8, but the real scene-stealer was the iPhone X, which celebrates the 10th anniversary of the smartphone line.
The iPhone X is a total departure in design from its predecessors, ditching the physical home button and the bezels for a seamless front panel.
However, it is not coming anytime soon since the Cupertino giant will focus first on selling the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus — both will be available as early as Sept. 22 (preorders will start Sept. 15).
Unfortunately, those clamoring for the iPhone X will have to wait a little longer. Even then, getting hands on one will be quite the challenge either way.
According to CNET, supply for the handset will be thin compared with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Apple will reportedly be able to only manufacture 10,000 units of the iPhone X per day.
That being said, those who want to be among the first to get their hands on the device should be on the lookout for the preorder period, which will begin on Oct. 27.
The same goes for carriers like T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and US Cellular — all expected to carry the iPhone X. Buyers are advised to be ready to place the order by 3 a.m. ET, which is expected to be the exact time preorders will be open.
The iPhone X shipment will then arrive on Nov. 3. Units will also hit the stores on the same day. Since the expectation is that supply will be limited, users who plan to score on by walking in would want to be as early as they could.
The iPhone X comes with a 64 GB and 256 GB model, priced at $999 and $1,149, respectively. It is also available on the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program.
The main attraction in the device is its front panel, which has no bezels except for the small bar at the top that holds the front-facing camera. On the back are two 12 MP cameras — one is wide-angle and the other is telephoto.
The iPhone X is powered by an A11 Bionic chip and introduces the Face ID, which allows users to unlock the phone "with a glance." Find out more about it here.
