iPhone X Review: On the Face ID, Animoji, and Apple's Unusual Move
The smartphone market has been enjoying an all-time high in terms of competition, as tech giants have unveiled the future of the device from their perspective. Whereas Samsung chose to introduce the Infinity Display, Apple has chosen to redesign the iconic iPhone for their newest flagship, the iPhone X. Considering its hefty price tag, many are concerned if it is a worthy buy. Here are the critics' first impressions on the Apple iPhone X.
According to The Verge, the iPhone X is exactly as it was promised by Apple, for better or for worse. For one thing, the Animoji is accurate, consistent, and entirely capable of tracking facial expressions and movement. However, the Face ID, though it seemed convenient at first to use, seemed to have some consistency issues in various lighting conditions.
It had no problem detecting faces in low light, but if fans were to go out on a walk under the sun, the Face ID works a little harder and misses a little more. Despite this, the display and the screen are definitely groundbreaking, but it might have to wait for the rest of the apps to catch up and optimize the UI to reflect the iPhone X's display and notch.
Critics also lauded Apple's risky move of developing the Face ID, and although it had a rocky start with people having some privacy issues, it seems that this feature might become the defining characteristic of the iPhone X down the line. However, Apple seems to be a little nervous about the reception of the iPhone X, as 9to5Mac reported that they have made the unusual move of touting positive comments on the flagship.
The tech giant has compiled all the good things that the critics have had to say so offer of the iPhone X, and while to some fans this might be reassuring, others perceived it to be a sign that the iPhone X might not do well in sales.
The iPhone X is set to be released on Nov. 3 for $999.
