iPod Touch 6th Gen News: Device to Be Released at October 2014 Apple Event?
The unveiling of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus marks the first time that Apple has released a new iPhone without updating its iPod Touch line. There are rumors that the sixth generation of the iPod Touch could be released this month on the same date that the Cupertino-based company launches the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.
But there are also speculations that the iPod Touch 6 may never see the light of day, and that the line may be retired quietly.
According to Stabley Times, the device was never an iPod so much as it was an early version of the iPad. The website speculates that the sixth generation iPod Touch could be rebranded as an iPad nano and come in a 5.5 inch size, and marketed as a mini tablet for those who want a more portable gadget.
However, rumors of a brand new iPod Touch persist and optimists predict that Apple is not done yet with the iPod Touch. With the line being the go to for those who want an Apple product without the sticker shock, it's possible that the sixth gen device will make its appearance on Apple's Oct. 16 media event.
The gadget is rumored to have a 4.7 inch display and is expected to be available in 16 and 32 GB variants, which is enough space for plenty of games, music, videos and pictures. It is also said to come with new and improved ear buds for richer and better overall sound quality.
The iPod Touch 6 is rumored to start at $200 and will reportedly come in different colors.
