iPod Touch 6th Generation News: Will It Still Come in 2015?
Fans of the iPod Touch are still waiting for the release of the 6th Generation iPod Touch and hoping that it will be released within 2015. It has been quite a waiting game for fans – the 5th Generation iPod Touch was released three years ago, in October 2012.
When Apple slashed prices of the iPod Touch 5th Generation in October of 2014, rumors started going around that the company will soon be releasing the next generation of the device. However, when spring 2015 arrived, the iPod was not among the new products that Apple announced in its annual media event.
On the financial end, one report in Gotta Be Mobile, Apple has previously noted a decline in iPod sales, mainly due to the emergence of newer and faster smartphones that double as music and gaming devices and the absence of an iPod Touch 6th Generation. Sales were much brisker with the iPhone 6 and the newer iPad and iPad mini models. The report also cited that most financial analysts generally do not list iPod Touch 6th Generation as part of their roadmaps or strategies for the year, but instead list the iWatch.
Most users of the iPod Touch still prefer the device's portability as opposed to the iPad mini. According to the report, the fact that smartphones such as the iPhone 6 come bundled with monthly plans is not a good thing when all the user needs is a device for gaming, music and videos. Most users however want a faster processor, better display and a better camera with their iPod Touch.
Since Apple has yet to give official word about whether a 6th Generation iPod Touch is indeed coming, rumors are still circulating about the device's possible specifications and release date. The Gospel Herald talks about a possible fall 2015 launch date. In terms of specifications, some rumors talk about an 8MP camera, waterproofing and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. It is rumored to be priced between $250 to $300, and will come in 32GB and 64GB versions. It may also come in space gray, orange, green, pink, red or silver.
