'Iron Man 4' update & rumors: Tony Stark to pair with Spider-Man's Mary Jane Watson?

In the world of Marvel comic books, it doesn't really come as a surprise anymore whenever a crossover of characters happens. And while that is being said, it just doesn't feel the same with the latest rumors pointing to the upcoming "Iron Man 4."

According to International Business Times, the fourth installment of the superhero movie may be inspired by the "Invincible Iron Man" comic series which will be released this coming December. It will feature Tony Stark and a familiar character to every Spider-Man fan out there—Mary Jane Watson. Reports say that the well-loved character will be introduced in the series, which makes fans wonder if there will be any romantic relationship between the millionaire and MJ.

The possibility isn't far as writer Brian Michael Bendis revealed that the two aren't complete strangers to each other. Realty Today quoted Bendis' saying, "She used to live in Avengers Tower. But that's all I'm going to say for now because what kind of relationship they end up having is a big part of what I would like people to buy the book for."

And if there are fans out there asking about her relationship with the web slinger, Latinos Post detailed that Mary Jane and Spiderman have split up after the events of the Superior Spiderman and "One Moment in Time" arcs. At this point, there is no concrete plot yet to what will be seen in "Iron Man 4" but if they adapt the comic book storyline, fans will surely want to know more of that and how it will happen since it's no secret that Stark is romantically involved in the movie with long-time assistant Pepper Potts. In fact, they are currently engaged. But in the comic books, the two were never really involved with each other and Potts eventually married Happy Hogan.

"Iron Man 4" will still be played Robert Downey, Jr. and is slated to debut in 2019. In the meantime, fans can catch the robotic superhero in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" movie which will be released on May 6, 2016.
