Is Apple Reviving the iPod?
There may be some good news for iPod fans – Apple's music player may be getting a revival of sorts soon. If reports are true, Apple may be releasing new generation iPods, sporting new colors sometime in the middle of July. This tidbit was brought to the attention of Belgium-iPhone's Jerome, who saw some interesting images when he updated his iTunes software recently to version 12.2.
Upon updating his iTunes, three images or photos of iPods appeared, all of which were not available currently in the Apple Store or any retail store. The three iPods apparently came in colors that were not part of the iPod lineup and these were a light gold iPod nano, a bright pink iPod Shuffle and a dark blue iPod touch.
The images may not suggest any apparent hardware or feature changes, but at least consumers can expect more varied hues to choose from. It also indicates that Apple is looking at refreshing its iPod line. The last major update the iPod line received was when the hue "space gray" was renamed as "slate" in 2013.

Rumors are already circulating that Apple may give up its iPod line soon. It already said goodbye to the first generation iPad mini recently so retiring another line is a possibility. Sales of their music players have been going down recently because most consumers are already using their smartphones to listen to music.
Another image was reportedly discovered by another site MacRumors, indicating that there may also be iPods in silver, red and space gray. The image also showed that the iPod touch may no longer have its wrist loop attachment.
The other piece of news that was discovered and reported is the possible date when Apple will be unveiling its new iPod line. In the same iTunes update, the Calendar app that is shown in the images that emerged is displaying a specific date – Tuesday 14 – which points to July 14. Tuesday is also the day when Apple traditionally makes its product announcement.
