Ivanka Trump Clothes Latest News: First Daughter's Fashion Brand Reports Skyrocketing Sales
Ivanka Trump's eponymous women's clothing line is booming. Despite calls to boycott the fashion brand and the controversies surrounding Ivanka's father, President Donald Trump, the fashion firm is reporting record sales figures.
In an interview with Refinery29, which was published on Tuesday, March 7, Abigail Klem, president of the Ivanka Trump fashion brand, mentioned that despite the boycotts, the company remains to be healthy and shows an overall boost.
"Since the beginning of February, they were some of the best performing weeks in the history of the brand," Klem said. "For several different retailers Ivanka Trump was a top performer online, and in some of the categories it was the [brand's] best performance ever."
Though Klem declined to cite specific sales figures, research by a market analytics firm reportedly supports the claim.
According to Lyst, a London-based e-commerce website which tracks clothing retailers, the sales of Ivanka Trump's fashion line significantly increased in February. From January to February of this year, Ivanka Trump's sales increased 346 percent. If the sales in February 2017 is compared to the average order in 2016, the brand's sales is revealed to have increased 557 percent.
From ranking 550th in January, the Ivanka Trump brand was ranked as 11th in sales for the month of February.
"Ivanka Trump brand has never ranked in as a top seller on our site," Lyst's U.S. public relations director Sarah Tanner said. "To see such an extreme spike in one month is completely unheard of and came as a huge surprise to us."
The media focus on Ivanka Trump's fashion brand started in February when Nordstrom announced that it would stop selling products from the line due to poor sales. President Trump responded to the news with an angry tweet, accusing the company of unfair treatment towards his daughter.
While explaining the president's reaction during a TV appearance in February on Fox News' morning talk show "Fox & Friends," President Trump's senior adviser Kellyanne Conway promoted Ivanka Trump's fashion line by urging viewers to buy the first daughter's products. Conway's behavior has led to calls that she be reprimanded for her statements.
The Ivanka Trump Collection is sold in more than 800 stores in the United States, and plans are reportedly in the works for the fashion line to be carried by an additional of 200 stores.
