Jacksonville Jaguars NFL Trade and Roster Rumors: Allen Robinson Suffers ACL Tear, Done for Season

The Jacksonville Jaguars started the season on a high note as they battled their way to a 29–7 victory over the Houston Texans last Sunday. It was a resounding win on the road, but it was costly.

The Jaguars have announced that Allen Robinson has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his left knee and he's going to miss the rest of the 2017 season.

The wide receiver sustained the injury shortly after catching a 17-yard pass from Blake Bortles in the first quarter of the game against the Texans. He managed to walk off the field, but he went straight to the locker room after the injury and he never came back.

"What I think about is how hard A-Rob has worked, and how much he's put in. I know what type of year he wanted to have. I think that's the thing that gets me as a coach as much as anything. You watch a player who has done everything that you've asked him to do and was really set up for a great year. To sustain an injury, it's obviously a blow," Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said, via the team's official website.

Robinson was the Jaguars' top receiver in the past two seasons. He has recorded 202 catches for 2,848 yards and 22 touchdowns during his tenure with Jacksonville, and he would have wanted to play well this season since he's entering the final year of his rookie contract. They reportedly had preliminary discussions about an extension before the season began, but that's now put on hold because of the injury.

Robinson's season-ending injury may have put a damper on their road victory, but Marqise Lee and Allen Hurns are ready to step up for the Jaguars. Keelan Cole and Arrelious Benn should see some action as well.
