'James Bond' Movie News: Netizens Pitch Possible Actors for New James Bond After Daniel Craig Says He No Longer Wants the Role

Following the announcement of Daniel Craig that he is done playing James Bond, the search is officially on for the actor who will fill in the shoes that Craig has left.

With the help of Visbrain, a Twitter analytics tool used by those in the field of public relations and marketing fields, Tom Hiddleston, who is most remembered for his Loki role in Marvel's "Thor" and "Avenger" movies, is the runaway winner in terms of number of agreement from social media users who used the hashtags "nextbond" and "nextjamesbonds," as per Huffington Post.

Apart from Hiddleston, the names of Idris Elba (1,167), Tom Hardy (449), Henry Cavill (324), and Michael Fassbender (231) also emerged as a possible choice for the role while getting notably lower numbers of agreement from Twitter users who used the said hashtags.

However, if London's newly elected mayor Sadiq Khan had things his way, he would want the next James Bond movie to be played by a female and must be called "Jane Bond." In his interview with Huffington Post, the mayor believes that the former Bond girl, Naomi Harris, would be a perfect choice for the role.

In the last James Bond movie, Harris played the role of Miss Moneypenny, James Bond's secretary. However, in "Skyfall," she played more than just a common secretary as the character also engaged in action scenes after assuming the role of an agent in the story.

This is not the first time that a female is suggested to play a James Bond role and to change the moniker to "Jane Bond." Elle reported last month that Jennifer Lawrence is being eyed to play the role Betty Pack, a WW II spy who was dubbed as "Blonde Bond." According to various accounts, Pack changed the course of war as she accomplished her missions and adventures during the World War II in the same daredevil manner of James Bond.
