James McAvoy Shaved Bald on Set of 'X-Men: Apocalypse'
Actor James McAvoy has officially gone bald to reprise his role as Professor X for the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," with a photo posted of him getting his head shaved on set.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" director Bryan Singer recently posted a photo of Scottish actor James McAvoy getting his head shaved on set in preparation for his first bald portrayal of Professor Charles Xavier.
McAvoy, who first played the X-Men's telepathic leader, Professor X, in 2011's "X-Men First Class," will be returning in the next iteration of his character when the ninth installment of the X-Men franchise premieres in theaters on May 27, 2016.

In the last two films introducing his younger version of Professor X, and how the iconic character evolved to his present day appearance and abilities, McAvoy sported a full head of hair.
For his third portrayal of the professor, McAvoy is going full on bald for the role, in preparation for phasing into the character veteran English actor, Patrick Stewart first essayed in the first "X-Men" in 2000.
McAvoy's characterization of Professor Charles Xavier in the prequel installments is set in the 1960's. The upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" appears to be set in the 1980s, based on the wardrobe other characters, like Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and Jubilee (Lana Condor) are wearing in photos Singer has posted on his Instagram account.
Earlier on, Singer also posted a slide taken from footage of the film showing Mr. and Mrs. Summer, parents of mutant Scott Summers/Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Alex Summers/Havok (Lucas Till) watching what appears to be the "end of the world" on their television screen.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" will detail the development of Xavier's school for gifted children, bringing in newcomers, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Ben Hardy as Angel, and Olivia Munn as Psylocke.
The film also introduces Channing Tatum as Gambit, and an ancient mutant, Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), who wrecks havoc on the present world with his Four Horsemen.
Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert will also be reprising their roles in the upcoming film.
