'Jane the Virgin' Cast News, Update: Singer Kesha Joins Pop Icon Britney Spears for Season 2
The CW's hit drama TV series "Jane the Virgin" is doubling up on its guest pop stars for its upcoming 2nd Season.
It was reported earlier that 90's pop icon Britney Spears will be appearing for a role on one of her reportedly "favorite shows EVER" on the network.
Yet a new casting update surfaced this week indicating that singer Kesha will also be coming over to the rom-com TV series also for a guesting stint.
The difference, however, is that the "TiK Tok" performer will be playing a character named Annabelle, Jane's (Gina Rodriguez) new neighbour, in a couple of episodes. The new girl on the block isn't particularly fond of Jane's infant roommate.
The "Sometimes I Run" singer, on the other hand, will be portraying herself. Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman previously told the media outlet during the network's Television Critics Association panel that Spears will be taking the role of one of "Rogelio's nemesis" in the fifth season of Season 2.
"Personally, after hearing about their long standing feud (from Rogelio's point of view), we are eager to hear Ms. Spears' side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney," she added (via TV Line).
Back to Kesha, this will be the first big TV gig for the "Die Young" singer, although she did have some voice acting gig for "Robot Chicken."
The 28-year-old singer-songwriter went over to her social media to say that she's "stoked" with the casting.
Urman is also quite thrilled to have Kesha on the show.
"We are so thrilled Kesha will be appearing on Jane!" the executive producer said in a statement (via TVLine). "We are all huge fans of hers, and we are so excited to welcome her to the Jane the Virgin family."
Aside from these two popular entertainment names, "Jane the Virgin" Season 2 is about to get even more complicated with the arrival of Jane's baby.
The show premieres on The CW this October 12 at 9 p.m.
