'Jane The Virgin' season 2 Release date, Cast News: Jane Gets Her Kidnapped Baby Back, Britney Spears to Guest Star
The first installment of "Jane The Virgin" was quite a whirlwind with the season finale showing Jane giving birth to her son Mateo who was kidnapped by Sin Rostro less than a day after he was born. Quite a dramatic ending but showrunner Jennie Urman revealed in an interview that the main character will be able to get her baby back quickly when the show returns for its sophomore season. Urman also said that season two will not revolve around the event.
"Jane will be able to laugh once she gets the baby back," Urman declared in the interview with the Hollywood Reporter. She also revealed the reason why the kidnapping had to happen and it's because it needed to close out the season in dramatic fashion.
She explained that it was necessary to offer the audience something to come back for especially since it will be on hiatus from May to October. But she confirms that season two will not take too long in solving the kidnapping issue. Other events will take place for the main characters once baby Mateo is returned, making the upcoming season more compelling.
Season two will be full of surprises beginning with the guest appearance of Britney Spears. According to TV Line, "Toxic" singer will take a temporary break from singing and give acting a try as it had been confirmed that she will be appearing in an episode of "Jane The Virgin."
Spears made an announcement of the exciting news on Twitter saying, "See [you] at the Marbella Hotel soon," and tagged Gina Rodriguez (Jane Villanueva) and Jaime Camil (Rogelio de la Vega). She also added that the series is one of her favorites. The singer and actress will reportedly star as Rogelio's nemesis.
"Jane the Virgin" season 2 will premiere on the CW on Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. ET.
