'Jane The Virgin' Season 2 Latest News: Gina Rodriguez Shares Thoughts For Upcoming Installment

The CW's critically-acclaimed breakout comedy drama series "Jane the Virgin" has already kicked off its second season this Monday and fans were able to find relief with baby Mateo's return. However, things are bound to get even more complicated as the show moves on towards its brand new Season 2.

In a recent interview with Variety, actress Gina Rodriguez, who plays the titular character in the series, reveals that it is their intention to keep up and perhaps surpass the level of effort they gave in Season 1.

She admits that there's more pressure returning as the virgin-mother for the second time. However, the love for the role "continues to grow more" inside of her and it has become so important for her to "sustain that level we gave in Season 1."

"There's no getting comfortable. We're trying harder now. It's interesting because a lot of people are like, 'Oh, you must feel like now it's a walk in the park.' No. I have to go in hard. We really have to show that we were deserving of that first season and that it wasn't a fluke," the 31-year-old actress told Variety.

Aside from the baby, Rodriguez is also looking forward to how her character develops in Season 2 with regards to her character's love life. It has been previously reported that Jane will get married with either Michael (Brett Dier) or Rafael (Justin Baldoni).

But for the star, it really isn't about who she will choose. Rather, it's about Jane becoming smarter "or at least thoughtful" when it comes to making decisions especially since this is something that could change her and her baby's life.

When pressed forward if she is either Team Raphael or Team Michael, the actress told the media outlet that she is now in a place where she needs to "focus on just my baby and my love" which eventually puts her on a "neutral playing field."

"Jane the Virgin" Season 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
