Jared Leto News: 'Suicide Squad' Joker is a Real Joker in Real Life

With the release of "Suicide Squad's" latest trailer, there is no denying that the movie will be action-packed entertainment and full of humor. While it is true that the trailer suggests that Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn character is portrayed in a humorous light, many people, as well, can't wait to see more of Jared Leto's wacky and insane take on his Joker character. However, it turns out that Leto is not only mischievous and brutally wacky in the movie; he is just as crazy as the character he portrays in real life, too.

In a recent interview with MTV News, actor Will Smith, who plays Deadshot in "Suicide Squad," shared just how crazy Leto is.

"What he did that's great is he set the bar. First, we found out that Jared wasn't going to be in rehearsal, so we were like "aww that's messed up you know, how he gonna not be in rehearsal." and then there was a bang on the door, and you know we're like who is, and this dude barges in and throws a dead pig down on the floor in front of us, and we're like oh shoot, and he said that's from Mister J," Smith recalled.

However, the real-life Joker in Leto didn't stop there. Smith revealed that the singer-actor also pranked Robbie on the set as he gave her a box of black roses wrapped in black. When Robbie opened what she thought was a present, it was when she realized that she had been pranked: the box had a live rat in it.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Leto admitted that he wanted to give Joker a different approach in the upcoming "Suicide Squad" and ensure that his portrayal of the character makes a mark as it has already been breathed to life by several actors in the past.

"It a weighty thing to do. But it's exciting…," he told Entertainment Weekly in reference to the process of making Joker his own.

With Smith's revelations on Leto, fans can only wonder if the pranks he played on the set are part of his internalization for the role. If they are, they have really done Leto good.

"Suicide Squad" arrives in the theaters on August 5.
