Jason Aldean Sorry for Brittany Kerr Cheating Scandal: 'I Had Too Much to Drink'
Jason Aldean made a public apology following a cheating scandal that was unveiled when photos of the country star and former "American Idol" contestant Brittany Kerr revealed the pair about to kiss.
The photos were taken at a patio bar called The Den in California, according to the site that snapped the shots. Celebrities and tourists alike frequent the place, looking to catch a glimpse of the rich and famous.
Aldean, who once sang the duet "Don't You Wanna Stay" with Kelly Clarkson, is married to his high school sweetheart, Jessica Ussery. The couple has two kids. Still, Aldean was spotted cuddling up to a different woman, Brittany Kerr, over the weekend, according to reports.
On Sunday night, Aldean admitted to cheating, apologized for his indiscretion, and blamed it on one too many drinks.
"I wanted to talk to you directly, so you were hearing the truth from me and not just reading allegations made about my personal life on gossip web sites," Aldean said on his Facebook page. "The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar."
Aldean went on to apologize to his family, saying that he was not "perfect."
"I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys," he wrote. "I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support."
Kerr is a former contestant on "American Idol" who appeared in the 11th season of the show. She is also a dancer for the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats.
Nearly 30,000 fans had responded to Aldean's apology by Monday morning, most applauding the star for owning up to his mistakes and forgiving his indiscretions.
"Everyone makes mistakes my Friend and being a super star makes you no different," one fan, Wayne Hamlin, wrote on his wall. "I accept your apology and am still a HUGE FAN of your music. So keep it up Brother I got your back."
Yesterday, others referred to the scandal as "Kristen Stewart bad." But unlike Stewart, who was caught cheating with "Snow White and the Huntsmen" director Rupert Sanders and labeled a "trampire," Aldean seems to have received a better public reception.
