Jennie Garth Divorce: Actress Hopes to Help Other Women

Jennie Garth has spoken out about her recent divorce, stating that she hopes coming forward will help other women in similar situations.

Garth split from her husband Peter Facinelli in March after an 11 year marriage. During an interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show the actress admitted that it had been a difficult, but life-altering time.

"At first, I wasn't sure how I was going to make it through, but I really learned that I am so much stronger than I thought I was," Garth, 40, said on the show Friday. "And if I can help other women touch into that, you know, their strength. . ."

Although Garth and Facinelli will no longer be together in marriage, Garth has stated that they will stay together in some way for the kids.

"We're still so committed to being there for our girls. That's the most important thing for us."

The ex-couple have three girls, Luca, 14, Lola, 9, and Fiona, 5 and according to Garth they are "still a family of some kind."

"You've been very open and honest talking about the divorce and your relationship. Do you feel like it's helping to talk about it? How do you feel about it?" DeGeneres asked the 90210 star.

"It's not something I'm dying to talk about, but it's something that's going on in my life," Garth noted. "I'm not ashamed to talk about it. I think by being open and honest with what I'm going through maybe it helps somebody else. I know, I've heard from a lot of people that it helps them, maybe with what they're going through. I'm not afraid to talk about it."

The star has recently been filming "A Little Bit Country" which was meant to portray her decision to move her girls from bustling Los Angeles to a California farm. However, it has also ended up revealing the breakdown of her relationship.

"I was filming then and yeah my personal life began to unravel. It wasnʼt very good timing," Garth told Celebuzz.
