Jennifer Aniston News: Talks About Motherhood, Says Pressure for Women to Procreate is Unfair

Jennifer Aniston shared her thoughts on people questioning her maternal status and decision against having children, calling the pressures unfair and hurtful, and also spoke about why feminism isn't hard to understand.

Aniston spoke about the issues frankly during her interview for the January issue of Allure magazine, saying that it bothers her when people continue to question her decision on not having a child.

"I don't like the pressure that people put on me, on women," she said. "That you've failed yourself as a female because you haven't procreated. I don't think it's fair."

She said a woman doesn't need to have a child to be considered nurturing, and finds the definition narrow. For her, motherhood is something that can still be shown through friends, friends' children and even pets. Aniston also admitted that on a personal note, she found the commentary hurtful, that people continuously called her selfish, being too career-driven and too focused on herself to have children.

"Even saying it gets me a little tight in my throat," she said, showing that the comments definitely stung.
She also opened up about feminism, saying the issue was "basic" and easy to understand.

"People overcomplicate it. It's simply believing in equality between men and women," she said.

However, the 45-year-old seems to have better things to look forward to than to let herself be hounded by negative criticisms as her performance in the upcoming drama film "Cake" is earning her positive recognition and acclaim left and right.

Aniston already received a Golden Globe nomination for "Cake," and word is going around that she can also look forward to an Oscar nomination.

She is also happily engaged to director-actor Justin Theroux, whom she gushed about to Allure.

"It was so nice to learn how to sort of relinquish control and let someone really care deeply for you," she said. "It's quite wonderful."
