Jennifer Garner Injures Herself While Filming Movie About A Cheating Husband

Jennifer Garner is one dedicated actress. The actress goes about her work professionally even as she hurt herself while filming her latest movie about a cheating husband in "The Tribes of Palos Verdes."

Director Emmett Malloy told Entertainment Tonight that Garner might have popped a vessel while filming one particularly emotional scene where her character found out her husband betrayed her. The actress was also struggling in her own marriage to Ben Affleck while shooting the movie.

"She just joined the crew and was really with it," Malloy said. "[She] didn't have a trailer and just sat there every day in that house and did scene after scene."

Joy Nicholson wrote and published the novel "The Tribes of Palos Verdes" in 1998. Scribe Karen Croner adapted the story for the big screen.

The movie is about an affluent Los Angeles family but the story centers on a young adult named Medina (Maika Monroe) who uses surfing as her coping mechanism as her parents' marriage falls apart. Garner plays her mom whose husband slowly achieves career success as a cosmetic surgeon to Hollywood stars.

The film also stars Justin Kirk, Elisabeth Rohm, Goran Visnjic, Joely Fisher and Alicia Silverstone. IFC Films produced the movie, which will be in theaters in December.

"It was just really exciting getting to be a part of getting this movie made," Garner told ET. "It's one of those tiny little movies that's an engine that could."

Playing a mom who is struggling in her marriage might resonate with the actress. She implied, however, that she did not let the work affect her home life, where she is raising three kids while separated from their father.

Garner said that she treated her emotional scenes in "The Tribes of Palos Verdes" as any other type of work. She revealed she doesn't use her own life to pull her emotions.

"The Tribes of Palos Verdes" will be in U.S. theaters Friday, Dec. 1.
