Jennifer Lawrence: By Hollywood Standards, 'I'm Obese'

Jennifer Lawrence played a tough-as-nails character in the blockbuster hit "The Hunger Games," but would not describe herself as a typical leading lady. "In Hollywood, I'm obese. I'm considered a fat actress," she said in a recent interview.

Even though she is comfortable in her own skin, Lawrence said she is "considered a fat actress" by those in Hollywood. Lawrence revealed her feelings toward her own weight and health in a new interview with Elle magazine.

Lawrence is a household name thanks to her leading role in "The Hunger Games," in which she played the iconic Katniss Everdeen. It's the role of a lifetime for a young actress, one that has led to other popular roles for Lawrence. Through it all, though, she maintains that she will "be the only actress who doesn't have anorexia rumors."

"I eat like a caveman. I'm never going to starve myself for a part," she assured Elle readers. "I keep waiting for that one role to come along that scares me enough into dieting, and it just can't happen. I'm invincible."

Lawrence had to bulk up for the role of Katniss Everdeen, who manages to survive a brutal reality competition in which children are pitted against one another and ordered to fight to the death. There can only be one winner, and Everdeen's special talent is archery, which helps her stay alive throughout the competition.

The role was incredibly physical, and there are still three more movies planned to conclude Suzanne Collins' very popular series. Lawrence has signed on to see the role all the way through to the end, requiring her to stay in shape and have a muscular frame.

That isn't the only reason, though, that Lawrence wants to remain in good physical condition and not worry about her Hollywood image.

"I don't want little girls to be like, 'Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I'm going to skip dinner,'" she explained.

"That's something that I was really conscious of during training, when you're trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong, not thin and underfed," she said.
