Jennifer Lopez Debuts Short Curly Hair Wig (PHOTO)

Jennifer Lopez decided to switch things up for the summer and recently opted for a new, cooler do says one report, although others suggested that the singer is just unveiling her real hair for the first time in years.

Ranked People Magazine's most beautiful person, the "American Idol" judge took the scissors to her hair recently and debuted a new short, curly look. Lopez showed off her new cropped look while walking about in Chile on Monday with boyfriend Casper Smart, according to Us Weekly (PHOTOS).

While it was first believed that the new look was a permanent switch up for the coming hot summer nights, it was later reported that Lopez was actually wearing a wig. The singer and dancer appeared later on stage for the Dance Again tour with Enrique Iglesias, and had settled back into her typical long style.

The wig trick was good news for some, who were disappointed to see the star's long locks go.

"Admittedly the cut looks good...but I am devastated. Her long mane made her look soooo SEXY!" the user I See You wrote on the Yahoo blog.

Lopez meanwhile, promoted her tour on her Twitter account.

"Hola Chile! LOVE!RS," Lopez tweeted. "Let's do this tonight in Santiago #DanceAgainTour. Tienen ya sus tickets? http://www.feriaticket.cl/ @dgmedios."

Others suggested that the short hair was the real look, assuming that the long locks were simply hair extensions.

"I think her hair was always like that, what she is probably doing is giving her hair a break from all the extensions. Might not BE a new bob haircut...still beautiful though," Arlene suggested on the Mail Online blog.

One user stated that Lopez, 42, was trying to live in the past, perhaps for the sake of her much younger man Smart, who is only 24.

"Trying to recapture her youth, it is a hair style she used to sport in the late 80's early 90's!" Leo wrote on the Mail Online blog.

In a March interview with Vogue, the singer stated that she didn't think much of the age difference.

"I don't feel older, and I don't feel like I look it, either, so I am just acting the same way I have always acted," Lopez told Vogue.
