Jenny McCarthy to Pose for Playboy: Should a Mom Go Naked?

Jenny McCarthy is to pose for Playboy magazine again at 39, returning to the place where she first gained fame and notoriety. The former Playmate of the Year is to appear on the July-August cover- more controversial now that she has a young son.

Jenny McCarthy will pose for Playboy shortly before turning 40, her representative confirmed to People magazine. The news was surprising for some, considering her transition into television, comedy, and writing. Still, the blonde actress had previously said that she would be "flattered" if she were asked to be in the magazine again.

"I would absolutely pose for Playboy," McCarthy told The Toronto Sun in 2009. "I would be so flattered if they asked me. It's probably not going to happen but I think I want to do it again."

Now McCarthy is set to be on the cover, and inside the publication, engage in a full spread nude pictorial- a decision that once catapulted her to fame, but is entirely different nearly 20 years after she first posed. Her controversial choice is accompanied by a pressure to look good, even though her body has changed since then.

McCarthy relies on treatments like Botox to stay young-looking.

"I'm an obvious Botox user. I tell everyone," she admitted to Life & Style. "I get Botox in my forehead. I just have my doctor do a little shot."

Staying beautiful isn't the only debate surrounding the cover. McCarthy now has a 10-year-old son, Evan, who runs the risk of seeing the pictures- or even worse, being bullied over them.

"I'm like, Oh. My. God! He's 9!" she exclaimed in 2009. "So you can imagine, if Hef's parties are still going on in a few years, I'm in trouble!" the mother exclaimed, referring to her former boss Hugh Hefner's infamous parties at the Playboy mansion.

Some think McCarthy still looks good, and has the right to do with her body as she pleases.

"Good for her! I hope I look that great when I'm 39," wrote Kerril on the People.com blog.

Others feel her commitment to her autistic and impressionable son should supersede her desire to make a quick buck for nudity.

"I wonder if she realizes her son's friends might see the spread. This could be beyond embarrassing for him. Poor kid," countered Reality Check.
