Jeremy Lin News 2017: Lin's Comeback Game Another Loss For the Nets

Following an extended layoff, Jeremy Lin finally returned to the court to play for the Nets. But just as the team hoped for a good and strong reset in the second half of the season, they took a licking.

The Nets' recent game against the Denver Nuggets was Lin's comeback game after being on hiatus for eight straight weeks due to his hamstring injury. Similarly, his team was back after taking the All-Star break. Just when everybody thought it was a great start for the Nets, things did not go as planned.

On Feb. 24, the Nets lost to the Denver Nuggets — the worst 15th straight defeat at the Pepsi Center. The game was witnessed by more than 17,000 basketball enthusiasts and fans, but the Nets admitted they had failed to play as they should.

"We didn't do a good enough job competing the way I wish we had, and that's on me as well. I didn't feel like I was doing enough, making enough energy plays, and that carries over. So it does put a damper on the fresh start," said Lin.

Statistics from the last game revealed that the Nets hardly competed, allowing 51 rebounds, giving up 62 points in the paint and surrendering 50.5 percent shooting. Despite Lin's return, the Nets failed to play a good game as Garry Harris, Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari of the Denver Nuggets pulled off 25, 24 and 20 points, respectively, tearing the Nets apart.

In his interview after the game, Nets coach Kenny Atkinson also expressed his frustration. "Very disappointed in the defensive effort all around, from individual defense, team defense, rebounding. It was a total breakdown of our defensive principles. Disappointing," he said.

Due to his hamstring woes, Lin has missed 44 games this season. Last week's game against the Denver Nuggets marked his 13th game for the Nets.
