'Jessica Jones' Season 2 Spoilers: Trish Helps Jessica Deal With Trauma of Her Past
Jessica (Krysten Ritter) needs Trish's (Rachael Taylor) help to forget the trauma from her past that continues to haunt her in the upcoming season of "Jessica Jones."
The new installment of the Netflix series will see the superhero-turned-private-investigator deal with the repercussions of Kilgrave's (David Tennant) actions. When he took over her mind, Jessica killed innocent people, including Luke's (Mike Colter) wife. It was a relief when she finally escaped from his mind control and snapped his neck with her super strength. A recent report by iTech Post claims, though, that Kilgrave may return to the series via flashbacks.
Although Kilgrave will not be physically present to hurt Jessica, his presence alone will still have a huge effect on her. The heroine will be wracked up with so much guilt, she will need all the help she can get to continue living.
Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg told Esquire in September that Jessica has always been a flawed character. Even before Kilgrave came and used her, she was already dealing with old wounds from the past.
"She was kind of messed up even before Kilgrave came along and so in Season Two we can explore what's possible for her moving forward. ... The equivalent for us would be if Jessica somehow recovered from the damage that had been done to her. People don't just heal, you don't go through that just to say, 'Oh, he got arrested, he's in jail, I'm OK now.' That trauma is a huge part of who she is now," the EP shared with Esquire.
In this time of need, Jessica needs her adoptive sister's support the most. Their relationship is expected to be one of the focal points in the upcoming storyline. Trish is not only a sibling to Jessica. She is her best friend. If there is someone who can help her get over her traumatic past, it will be Trish.
"Jessica Jones" season 2 is expected to air in 2018.
