'Jessica Jones' Spoilers – A Reluctant, Guilt-Ridden Superhero Makes Marvelous Viewing

The Jessica Jones series on Netflix has earned rave reviews from every quarter. So maybe it is time for all to get Netflix.

Superheroes have invaded the movies and now, they are crowding television. CW has "The Flash" and "Arrow," its two most successful shows, and last month saw CBS jump into the fray with "Supergirl." With "Daredevil" and Jessica Jones" on Netflix, viewers are getting their fix of superhero action.

All these shows have reasonable viewing ratings, even though "Supergirl" had slipped but is now on even keel.
The story of "Jessica Jones" originated in Hell's Kitchen, the very same New York neighbourhood from where Daredevil came from. This was also featured in "The Avengers" where the Avengers almost decimated Manhattan.

This place is the origin of Marvel's two troubled superheroes, Daredevil and now, the marvellous Jessica Jones.

What is intriguing about Jessica is that she is probably the world's first alcoholic, scarred and reluctant superhero, with a host of inner demons.

The delicate and petite Jessica, who is played by Krysten Ritter, has an unusual ability – she has the strength to lift cars and trucks, leap and almost fly over buildings and apartment blocks. At the same time, she has tremendous guilt and so hits the bottle regularly.

Meanwhile, she works hard at keeping in the background, wanting no recognition but wants peace and time to deal with a mighty issue with the main villain of this season – Kilgrave.

Kilgrave is a super villain who can make a person do what he wants through telepathy. He is the typical comic book villain, but in Netflix, he is very elegant, though eccentric and arrogant, and is played by David Tennant who is a "Doctor Who" alum.

The background is that this Kilgrave has kept Jessica Jones in his manipulative hold and made her do things she did not want to do. In a bus accident, this hold breaks and Jones is set free.

The season's story starts from the time Jessica comes to know that Kilgrave is alive and has survived the accident and is coming for her. She flies into a panic and tries to escape from Hell's Kitchen.

But Kilgrave starts manipulating and killing people and Jessica realizes that she has to stop this and face her nemesis.

But Jessica also has other problems to solve. She cannot get rid of the guilt that she feels because of the heinous acts she committed while in Kilgrave's grip.

Be sure to get Netflix and watch "Jessica Jones."
