Jessica Ridgeway Missing: Search for 10-Year-Old Extends From Colorado to Missouri

The search for Jessica Ridgeway, who went missing Friday from her Colorado town, has just been extended to Missouri.

An Amber alert was issued out late Friday night after Jessica Ridgeway failed to return home. Authorities stated that the 10-year-old girl typically walked three blocks to meet with friends at Chelsea Park in Westminster, Colorado before heading to school as a group. This time however, police believe that Ridgeway never made it as far as the park.

The girl was absent from school that day however, Ridgeway's mother who works the graveyard shift and was asleep in the day, missed the school's calls. She did not realize her daughter was missing until she woke up around 4:30 p.m. and the girl had still not returned home.

The search for Ridgeway was extended to Missouri, where her father and grandmother both share a home.

"The police asked if they could search my house and I said yes because we'd do anything in the world to get her back, "Donna Moss, Jessica's grandmother. Told CBS news on Monday. "We want her back as soon as we can get her."

Amber alerts are typically only issued if it is believed that the child faces imminent danger. Investigators spent all of Saturday searching for Ridgeway, with the help of over 800 volunteers, to no avail.

"The urgency started when we got the notification," Detective Trevor Materasso of the Westminster Police, told the news station. "We're using as many resources as we can pull in."

Although police searched the home of Rideway's father, as of now police do not believe that he was involved.

"At this time we don't have any indication he is involved in any way," Westminster police spokeswomanCheri Spottke told MSNBC.

Jessica is 4 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 80 pounds and has blond shoulder-length hair. She has blue eyes and was wearing a black jacket and pink-and-purple glasses.
