With the current political climate proving to be quite overwhelming for the nation, Hollywood's celebrities have begun to speak out their opinions in interviews and social media. One such celebrity is Jimmy Kimmel, who hosts "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" he has been vocal about his opinions on the current administration and he has been targeted by critics.
In a recent interview, Kimmel tells all about his position as a TV host and as a U.S. citizen.
"It concerns me, but not enough to change what I'm doing," Kimmel told New York Times in an interview. "Of course, you want as many people to watch your show as possible. But some things are more important than bringing in a big audience. I hope that we, as a nation, get back to a time where I can have a normal, well-rounded show, that's more focused on Beyoncé and Jay-Z than Donald and Ivanka. But for the time being, this is what's at the forefront of people's minds."
Kimmel also shared that his show's network, ABC, has never stopped him from voicing out his opinions on air. Amid the critics and the fact that they claim that Kimmel's freedom of expression may not be appropriate for the world of TV, the critically acclaimed host stands his ground and believes that some things must be said.
According to ABC News, Kimmel has also expressed that he would like to have U.S. President Donald Trump on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" The host believes that he can facilitate some realizations just by being talking to Trump.
He would also like to ask him about the gun policies and health care changes that have been dominating the headline as of late. Kimmel has previously spoken out about his son Billy, who was born with a heart defect and whom he fears will not be included in the new health care coverage that Trump's administration has been pushing.
