John Cena and Nikki Bella Getting Married: Is It Fake?; Some Fans Become Skeptical

John Cena shocked the world on Sunday night when he proposed to his long-time girlfriend and fellow wrestler, Nikki Bella, in front of the Wrestlemania 33 crowd.

After winning against The Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag team match, Cena got down on one knee and pulled out a ring to pop the big question. The entire proposal was televised for the world to see and they saw Cena taking the leap in the middle of the wrestling ring.

"Right before your surgery, there would be a time when you would be a little loopy and I could ask you anything I wanted. If you gave me an honest answer, you wouldn't remember what you said," Cena recalled in front of everyone (via USA Today).

"You were kinda glassy, in and out. At the last moment, I said, 'Can you hear me?' You said, 'Yes.' I said, 'I only have one question.' You said, 'What is it?' 'Do you know one day I'm going to marry you?' And you said, 'Yes,'" he continued. "I just need you to say yes one more time."

And while Cena and Bella's engagement is definitely a happy moment, some fans became skeptical that the proposal was just a publicity stunt, reports Heavy. This is because Cena revealed on Today that he has been thinking about proposing since January of last year. And throughout 2016, he had reportedly been saying that he did not want to get hitched at all.

Cena previously said on the E! reality shows "Total Divas" and "Total Bellas" that he does not want to get married because he does not want to have children. Bella, on the other hand, has been vocal about her desire to have kids. However, Cena recently revealed that he had a change of heart because of Bella.

It remains to be seen if this is just another publicity stunt, but the real-life couple does seem to be very happy together.
