John Cena Ex-Wife Elizabeth Huberdeau: Pro Wrestler's First Marriage Was High School Romance Turned Sour Over Home Improvement Issues?
Grand romantic gestures ruled this year's WrestleMania when popular wrestler John Cena went down on one knee and proposed marriage to girlfriend and fellow wrestler Nikki Bella.
Right after winning the mixed tag team match against The Miz and Maryse in last Sunday's pro wrestling event, the couple got engaged on the ring after Cena popped the ring and the question and Bella said yes.
And now the internet is not only abuzz with talks about the wrestling couple's recent engagement, but has also grown interested in Cena's former high school sweetheart, now ex-wife, Elizabeth Huberdeau.
Cena reportedly met Huberdeau in high school in their hometown of West Newbury, Massachusetts. The two became best friends and had been inseparable for years before they finally decided to get married in 2009.
Cena was already a professional wrestler for seven years when he got married, and had thus accumulated a decent amount of fortune that necessitated a prenuptial agreement, which Huberdeau willingly signed. The marriage lasted until Cena filed for divorce in 2012.
According to TMZ, Huberdeau felt betrayed by Cena's unexpected move, and later accused her ex-husband of cheating on her with various women in a bid to challenge their prenup.
Subsequent reports revealed that the main reason behind the couple's separation was caused by disagreements over some home improvements, which Cena claimed were taking up too much time and money. Cena also had an obsessive-compulsive disorder then, which may have served as an additional trigger for the dispute that eventually led to the couple's divorce.
Cena and Huberdeau have since settled their differences off-court, but the divorce hounded Cena for years, making him averse to marriage. But apparently, this is one aversion that failed to hold sway to the kind of romance that Cena has since shared with his current fiancée, Bella.
No further detail is known about Huberdeau following her divorce from the pro wrestler.
