John Cena News: Alberto Del Rio to Return While Cena Is on Sabbatical

John Cena is taking a sabbatical from wrestling for personal reasons, and there are rumors that his past rival Alberto Del Rio is making a comeback while the WWE star is on leave.

While Cena's real reasons for his time off are still unconfirmed, his so-called vacay has stirred excitement among Del Rio's fans. WWE officials are rumored to be discussing the return of Mexico's Greatest Export, while John Cena is away from the limelight, according to the Bleacher Report.

As of now, WWE may be considering re-signing Del Rio after they booted him out in 2014. The rumor is timely because WWE is on its way to Mexico this weekend for a tour. Del Rio might still not be on good terms with the company, but his performance as a free agent in the United States, Mexico, and other places is something worth considering, the report explains.

As for Cena, there are whispers that he is taking some time off because Raw's ratings have been dropping, but Dave Meltzer said earlier in October that his sabbatical stems from "personal reasons." He could either be getting some downtime to recover from an injury, or preparing for his wedding with Nikki Bella.

The speculations, however, still remain unconfirmed. But what is sure is that Cena deserves this temporary time away from the ring. It is up to WWE to figure out what to do while their main star is on leave, and they could use this time to let other stars shine, the report suggests.

Meanwhile, before his well-talked-about break from WWE, Cena shone the spotlight on a lucky pair of fans. In the middle of "Monday Night RAW" in Chicago, the wrestling star happened to notice that a couple just got engaged on the spot, NESN reports.

John Cena interrupted his match with Dolph Ziggler, grabbed the mic, and gave a congratulatory shoutout to the newly engaged couple.
