John Mayer Calls Katy Perry 'Incredible' in Touching Tribute to Pop Star

John Mayer kicked off his new Born & Raised Tour Saturday night in Milwaukee with a bang, after gushing about his on-and-off girlfriend Katy Perry.

The "Paper Doll" singer, 35, underwent throat surgery in 2012 and he opened up about how Perry would often speak on his behalf when they first began dating. Doctors reportedly advised Mayer to refrain from speaking which prompted Perry's kind gesture.

"[Katy's] more incredible than I ever thought," Mayer told the crowd according to RadarOnline.com.

Perry, 28, was reportedly present in the audience for Mayer's opening show. At one point while introducing his new tune "A Face To Call Home," Mayer said "To Katy, who is my face to call home."

On July 3 it was revealed that the couple, who split in March, had recorded a duet together in recent months which ignited reconciliation rumors. Sources claim the unnamed song may appear on Mayer's upcoming album, "Paradise Valley," which is due for release on Aug. 13, according to The Ralphie Radio Show.

The pair, who has dated on-and-off for one year, recently made their first public appearance together since their abrupt split at the Friar's Foundation event for actor Don Rickles. On-lookers claim that they appear to have reconciled.

"They were so lovey-dovey and all over each other," an onlooker told Life & Style magazine. "They were kissing in front of everyone and couldn't stop touching one another."

Perry, who was once married to British comedian, Russell Brand, spoke candidly about her relationship with Mayer during a recent interview with Vogue magazine. The "Hot N Cold" singer professed her love for the troubled singer despite their most recent split.

"I was madly in love with him. I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he's got a beautiful mind," Perry recently told the July issue of Vogue regarding Mayer.
"Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds," she added.
