'John Wick 2' May Feature 'Matrix' Reunion
"John Wick 2" may feature a reunion between "The Matrix" co-stars Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne.
Keanu Reeves, who played Neo in the movie "The Matrix," is currently filming for "John Wick 2," a rom-com that tells the story of a man and his dog. The award-winning actor was recently spotted shooting a scene with Laurence Fishburne on a rooftop in DUMBO, Brooklyn, according to the Gothamist.
Locals who have spotted Reeves and Fishburne at the scene took to Twitter to report their own speculations.
"I just walked past Laurence Fishburne and a very severe and tragic-looking Keanu Reeves (I think). Filming a JOHN WICK sequel? (I hope!)," the Gothamist quotes Twitter user @dogra's post on Dec. 14.
So far, Fishburne is not listed on the IMDB cast page for "John Wick 2," and his involvement in the movie still has not been confirmed. But the photos taken by the Gothamist hint that he may have a cameo appearance in the upcoming sequel.
It is worth noting that the "John Wick" director, Chad Stahelski, served as Reeve's stunt double on "The Matrix." The connection has served to further fuel the rumors about a cast reunion, the report relays.
The said photos show the two actors shooting a fight scene. Reeves is also seen sporting a blood stain on his shirt. This may indicate that he will be involved in a bloody fight in "John Wick 2," News Ledge reports.
In an attempt to guess what Fishburne's role in the sequel is, News Ledge took a closer look at the photos. Writer Marcus Chavers speculates that he may be a person from Wick's past. Since he bears tattoos that resemble a motto of a Hawaii-based Marine Corps unit, Chavers says he may be playing the role of a former military personnel, commander, or a CIA handler.
The first "John Wick" movie earned more than $76 million in theaters worldwide. Fishburne's addition to the cast of "John Wick 2" may propel the movie to gross revenue of $3.9 million.
