'John Wick 3' News: Stahelski, Reeves Are Eager to Start; Script for 'Chapter 3' Already Under Development

Even before "John Wick: Chapter 2" was released, plans for a third installment have already been set in motion. Now that the titular hitman's story has officially expanded into chapter 2, what can fans expect from the upcoming chapter 3?

In an interview with Geekscape, director Chad Stahelski revealed that they had an influx of ideas while working on the second chapter of the "John Wick" movie, and felt that they have cut this particular installment at "a very nice stopping point." They took great care not to stuff everything they had into this one movie, but have decided instead to stretch John's story into a third chapter.

"I'd say we have a lot of ideas, we have an outline, and I know where I want it to go, and I know where Keanu would like it to go. So we are currently in development and that's a fancy word for we are still thinking about it," Stahelski said.

Like in the first movie, "John Wick: Chapter 2" once again forced John (Keanu Reeves) back into the hitman business, but this time by a blood oath he made with gangster Santino D'Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio). The gangster once helped John leave the business to marry his late wife. The task was to kill Santino's sister, Gianna, so that he could take over her seat at the "High Table" of crime bosses.

But after completing this mission, Santino double crosses John by placing an open $7 million bounty on his head, which eventually leads John to shoot Satino in the head on the sacred grounds of the Continental. By the end of the second movie, John had managed to double the price on his head and had thus made himself a target for assassins all over the world.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reeves expressed his eagerness to do the third movie since he loved the character of John and the world he moved in. However, he also said that the possibility of a third movie coming out would still depend on how much the audience want it.

"If they enjoy what we did — and hopefully they do, fingers-crossed, I really dig it — but if they do enjoy it, then I'll have the chance to continue the story of the character and the world," Reeves said.

"John Wick: Chapter 3" is still currently in development and has no scheduled release date yet.
