Jon Jones News: 'Bones' Expecting Immediate McGregor-Aldo Rematch

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones believes José Aldo deserves an immediate rematch against new undisputed champion Conor McGregor.

"Bones" was just reinstated by the UFC, after an indefinite suspension from a hit-and-run incident he was involved in last April. The 28-year-old fighter has since undergone community service work as the sanction for the said misdemeanor.

While there has been no definite date set for Jones' Octagon return, he is being billed to face current light heavyweight king Daniel Cormier for a second time. It was a stipulation that UFC president Dana White put up as far back as May.

The said fight is reportedly taking place at the Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 23rd. As Jones is currently on the backseat while he prepares for his ceremonious return, Conor McGregor has emerged as the company's biggest superstar to date.

Having dethroned six-year champion José Aldo in thirteen seconds using a single punch, "The Notorious'" stock value has since skyrocketed. The current title picture of the UFC's featherweight divison, on the other hand, remains to be in limbo. This has been the case after McGregor himself announced his plan to move up to the lightweight division soon.

Presently, former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar has been billed to face McGregor next. Aldo, on the other hand, would have to wait in line.

On Sunday, Jones shared his opinion on the matter. According to him, Aldo should be given the immediate rematch, just like how former bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey would be getting hers against Holly Holm.

"If Rousey is granted an immediate rematch I would expect the same treatment for Aldo. It only seems right," Jones wrote.

A good number of fight fans who support Aldo believe that the Brazilian fighter should have been given a longer time in the fight. Jones shares the exact same sentiment.

"At this point yes still want a longer version of the fight," he wrote. "It would simply be epic."
