Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor Fight Preview: 'The Notorious' believes Brazilian champ will no-show UFC 194
UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor is not confident that José Aldo will be showing up on fight night.
The 145-pounders are set to unify the UFC's featherweight titles on December 12th at UFC 194. The event will be taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Aldo and McGregor have a brief history together that is filled with animosity. The two were originally slated to face each other at UFC 189 last July. After weeks of incessant trash talking during their pre-fight press tour in April, Aldo was suddenly forced out of the bout due to an injury.
Two-time title contender Chad Mendes stepped in as his replacement two weeks before the fight, only to get stopped via second round knockout.
The much-awaited fight has now been rescheduled, and both men are so far in top condition. But McGregor is still not buying into the fact that Aldo will be present during fight night.
"I still don't think he will show," McGregor said in an interview with GQ Magazine. "I am trying to be optimistic but I am never wrong, I always predict the outcome of my fights and I am never wrong."
McGregor's penchant for talking trash has made him one of the most followed fighters in the UFC today. To his credit, he was able to follow through with his own predictions. As for Aldo, he believes that the Brazilian champion does not have what it takes to come out victorious this time around.
"I have beaten him already. He is dead. Look at his body language," McGregor said. "His body is weak and his mind is weaker. I can smell the lack of confidence. If the mind is not in it, the body won't follow. He cannot beat me."
"He knows it. It's why he went running last time," he continued. "I can hear it in his voice, I can see it in his eyes, I know when a man is beaten, and he is beaten mentally."
